The River is Down and Activity is Up
Following brisk sales activity in the fall, work on Tall Ships Landing and for many of you, your new home, has begun. As the temperature drops, sales continue to heat up (only 3 T’Gallant West and 4 T’Gallant East remaining) as does activity at the site. In October of this year, foundation excavation crews began pre-construction preparation of the riverside site of the new Tall Ships Landing condominium and Maritime Discovery Center of the Thousand Islands.
As autumn embued the trees along the St. Lawrence with brilliant hues and warm tones, and ships made their way down river to the sea, bustling crews and machinery descended on the Tall Ships Landing site, taking advantage of the fact that at this time of year, the water levels on the great river are lower, thus lowering the water table beneath our site.
The overburden was excavated down to the granite bedrock, enabling the forming and pouring of concrete sub-footings. With the bedrock exposed, engineers are able to inspect and prepare the locations of all the footing and major support columns.
